Dean Tennant training video

I love how much Island content is coming out! Deaner is a local and is our Andrew Mitchells Team mate on the Dunbar Cycles team and Victoria’s First World Cup team, huge high five! And high five for Dean rocking the SL 50 boxxer, it obviously shaves some time off his runs. It’s not the rider who is fast its the stem he chooses… so we claim!

 

So check out Dean’s training regime and yes it is off season and when you live in Victoria you can ride all year long.

Expert Phase Complete!!

This park is going to be sick and as promised 100 percent free for all to enjoy! Half done with only the dual slalom course and pro lines to be designed and connected to the pump tracks hidden in the trees!





Another Teaser on the Park!


This is just the expert/ intermediate and learning area the sloped bank is soon to be a dual slalom course that will be the most used feature in the park by far!

I'm back, Game on! Boxxer stems 50mm are here!

I was back last Friday but have been too busy picking peeling sun burns from hell.

I look like Freddy Kruger or that guy who has the scary skin disease but it was worth it, Guatemala is nuts, highly recommended.

Lots have happened since I left but this one takes the cake...

New 50 mm Boxxer Stems!

Here is a sneak peek of a raw proto made up for Factory rider Drew Mitchell.


Here is a sneak look at the longer boxer version.

Lower than anything so far / Bars will be flush with crown. All bolts custom turned down in house for a cone shape saving 8 grams a stem –will phase this in across the board.

Here’s the PR sheet AND the design perks...

Features:
- 50mm reach
- True Zero rise ie. the handlebar is absolutely flush with the crown (the lowest boxxer stem on the market)
- 139g with the help of custom coned bolt heads shaving 8 grams per stem
- 2 piece design is considerably stronger than 3 or 4 piece designs and also distributes stress on bars more evenly
- Machined from solid high strength aluminum in our own Canadian factory like all Straitline Components!



It is longer than the Ultra which places you directly over the crown for snappy handling but the 50 allows for the Bar to be flush with the crown for those who want to go low low on their rides.

Big Step for us but definitely exciting to prove your gear on the WorldCup Scene.

BOXXER stem Angles!

So the point of todays blog is to Poke fun at a few emails I've recieved from people who cannot grasp a shorter stem design. So I figured some simple visuals would put it all into perspective.

Mini Teaser on the Sexy new stems!

We didn't have any money to make a fancy demo video like most of the companies out there. Instead we tried to make one with for our new Boxxer Stem designed for Drew Mitchell, Canada's National Downhill Champion, but as you can see it was more funny than anything else.

Drew Boxxer Promo Take One!!

The New Ultra Short Boxxer direct mount stem. at 28 mm solid 2 piece design 136 grams, designed to get your weight over the bars increasing front tire hook up and handling. As explained by Drew in the worst promo video to date!


So to save time on making another Promo video to show off the other stems, I decided to use Lady Boss in a fight sequence! If you look closley she and her Thugs are rocking the new 35 stem in blue with matching pedals! And hopefully near the end of this video you will have figured out that this blog is for fun!

I was amazed at the precision of the machining on these stems. the guys from straitline will talk about there equipment all day if you let them. you can see why when you look at the detail that they are able to produce, and the amount of thought they have put in to their products.

Just a week after placing fifth at 5th Red Bull Mt. 7 Psychosis, seconds behind Sam Hill, Drew flew to the east coast and dominated the series!




For those of you not in the know, Drew has been the key player in the North Saanich Freeride park, The day after he got back from the worlds in Italy he called me up to see if we can work in the park. Drew is a motivated guy, stoked for him.

Fluidride Cup & Freeride Park updates!

Decline posted on their website a mini blurb on the Fluidride race where Drew won second place last weekend. Second isn't bad since Drew slaved in the North Saanich Freeride Park for three days straight, him and I quit at 8 pm on Friday dehydrated and out of fuel for the bobcat.

Drew's our park Bitch as long as we let him play with a shovel and a bobcat he doesn't talk back too much.

Now keep in mind we are building a modern freeride park here in North Saanich and Drew is our key guy along with Kyle Michell -no relation- Since Kyle is in China building the worlds BMX track, Drew and I have been focusing on setting up the pump track area and planning layouts until Kyles return.

North Saanich Freeride Park update

So what I have learned is this... winter building sucks!

This was two weeks ago, after days of sunshine it decided to snow on the park on a build day. So... building was off but I decided to keep the machine in action and at least chew up some material because that is just fun.


This past weekend I had cove-shocker Drew Mitchell of Cove Bikes swing over to help connect the large pump track but again it decided to rain. No luck. But we took the time to use a Wheel Loader and design the little kids track and form some berms with base material.

Everthing is wet so until the sun gods stop punishing me for hanging out with Drew, building cannot happen.

Big Props to Gordy Martman Excavating for consistantly backing us up with machinery, it is making other parks jealous at how good we have it.
