Rocking Beats / BMX 85/ Eurobike

You were the coolest in my town if you owned a Kuwahara. I owned one so what does that tell ya?

I Guess the pajama party above paved the way for the modern stuff  so I can’t make fun of it too much.  And every year at Eurobike I walk up a bit from our booth and check these guys out. These guys put on a non-pajama party show that is pretty sick and the beats are better.

And this is just the worlds most important must see video, one that I will never tire of finding a reason to post up.

Did you miss me?

22 days, 10 flights and 12 train rides Switzerland/Germany/Italy/Scotland/UK and the conclusion that Ryan air is King and EasyJet are a bunch off assholes!EUROBIKE 2010 DENNIS 491

Sorry for the dead site, I will forgive you if you never come back but I was away from proper internet access so dropped off the grid. Felt surprisingly good I must admit but we are back from our European tour, the show in Germany was great and huge thanks to all of our distributors for entertaining us!

So many story and way too many pictures but I will share some with you and if I was smart… finally start up a face book page…oh god how I hate face book but it is a strong marketing tool.

I’ll show you more next week but check this out.

Here I am in Switzerland financial district setting my alarm on my rental, pretty sweet I know.

EUROBIKE 2010 DENNIS 124

Drunken bike concepts…

EUROBIKE 2010 DENNIS 193

Strange as hell euro brand booth displays are abundant! These guys were selling bike lights, by no means has their display overshadowed their product.

EUROBIKE 2010 DENNIS 303

And if you are immature and laugh at stuff like this, Europe is the place for you!

EUROBIKE 2010 DENNIS 095

Promise to get up to speed and show you some funny stuff we saw along the way.

Hitler’s Trip to Whistler!

Okay the following sentence allows me to post and laugh at this video because it is ridiculously bad and not really meant to offend anyone…

“Straitline Components does not endorse or support any views or beliefs depicted in the following video, viewer discretion is advised 18+!”

Now we also do great business in Germany as well and this does not reflect on us in anyways or on the amazing German friends we have, history is history but just take a peak and have a sense of humor.

Ready?

Now more promised shots from Eurobike that I promised ages ago!

In random order…

EUROBIKE 09 032

It was so jammed packed this year our options were to hang with the Transition bike crew 2 hours away in Austria, Sleep i na drained indoor pool with Ruedi of TSG and all his athletes or buy a sweet ass tent and camp 300 ft away from the show!  Slept like babies and could roll out of bed and walk to the show. We left the tent when we left all made up like as if we were still there camping, not sure how long it took them to figure out that we were 5000 miles away already!

EUROBIKE 09 082

These guys are the reason you stay on site because a two hour commute still half drunk in the morning sucks- Thorben, Christian and Cuz Cuz the only dude I have ever met that can sleep sitting up in any situation.

EUROBIKE 09 113

Tim has a slight touch of  down syndrome but he means well and just sits in the corner quietly when not selling Straitline Components in Germany for SportsNut!

EUROBIKE 09 173

Wine festivals and any form of drinking is highly endorsed over there, old ladies pour you shots of Schnaaps and drink you under the table!

EUROBIKE 09 184

That's actually the Mayor of Saarburger and his son pouring me wine as they rolled by on a tractor!

EUROBIKE 09 102

Dennis insulting another fine distributor of ours! Fritz of Indian Summer does have a pink blackberry cover!

EUROBIKE 09 265

Just my hands, bored on a flight!

EUROBIKE 09 066

This is the point of the night where everyone goes to the washroom and stays as long as possible, bar bills as long as your arm are a sad reality when visiting the Eurobike show.

EUROBIKE 09 275

Just enjoying the luxury toys on a British Airways flight and  checking our airspeed trying to figure out how fast I would be if I ran down the aisle. I can’t sleep on flights and the next shot is of the worlds most annoying guy who sat in front of me.

EUROBIKE 09 294

I threw one of his shoes up the aisle out of jealousy of his 3 seat set up and 9 hour nap!

EUROBIKE 09 220

Epic little towns with homes older than Canada!

EUROBIKE 09 126

Lets end this on stupid bikes that sadly dominate the scene and make you realize how niche free ride/dh really is.

EUROBIKE 09 042

License plate almost says what I am thinking!

EUROBIKE 09 050

Wait, lets end on a Straitline Silent Guide installed on a Morewood!

Till next year!

Eurobike /Playboy

I am so late posting about Eurobike and most people have done a better job exposing what's new and all that.  The boys over at Sicklines.com have compiled a great list of coverage. Just go there and save me the trouble !! SICKLINES COMPLILATION

All I have is this… a picture of me hoisting up our Spanish distributor Luis while Dennis insults him!  It is a fun show, really all about building relation ships.

Sept 09 019

I find it boring really going over the same old stuff, but we  did drop our new silent chain guide device that was very well received. Weight/ price and the fact that it is silent and actually works was all people needed to know stoked to release it next month to the masses. Below is showing the Kawasaki racing green sliders but we plan to make 4 color options but keep the bash and boomerang matt black.

32th  –36th and only 176 grams gets you a complete guide 32th -36th including the bash guard that is made out of 7000 aluminum and 205 grams for the 36-40 th version.

By far the coolest highlight of the show was being contacted by the German division of Playboy for a web segment in their magazine, who says no to that?

Take a look here for the promo video – PLAYBOY GERMANY  It will play automatically and please go to full page for better screening.  18 plus!

EUROBIKE!!!

Our German distributor Sportsnut throws a sick ass party every year , it is seriously the place to be, dj’s, bar tenders handing out free Becks beer, and solid flow of pro athletes swinging by for chats. Then the nighttime comes and the beers kick in… something always happens to us.

Below are video from 07  but it gives a taste of the booth set up and vibe, it is a great show that absolutely dwarfs Vegas Interbike in size and fun!

The boys at Morewood posted a good overview of the booths layout here  it is just a funky hang out spot with some solid brands.

Check my skills on a recumbent bike!~  Poor kid almost wiped out after trying to mimic my style!

The show is all about relaxing and doing business and getting down German style. It may be 6 times bigger than Vegas but the Germans make it such a smooth show it is amazing how precise everything is.

So to keep up our Canadian image we work so hard to Dennis and I have been studying a dance for when we go out on the town with the Morewood crew.  The pressure to represent our company and our nation is a serious honor and Dennis and I are excited to wow everyone at the show.

Put this on the big screen and up the volume!

In between the fun and games, new product will be released too such as Jeff Lenosky’s new pedal! Custom matte black finish with gold pins and washers is honestly the coolest pedal we have ever made, really stoked to show it off in person.

Eurobike highlight

Freecaster made a little video of the show and saved you from all the boring product pitches with some Jay Z playing over the footage.

Sam Pilgram and Amir Kabbani were our roomies during the show so check the video for the goods on what the show is like.

Check it out! Eurobike highlight Must see!

Besides landing podiums at the 26TRIX in Austria below are the boys at the Eurobike show on the podiums, Pojok took first while Sam Pilgram second with Amir Kabbani taking third. But the night before...

Not to give excuses but maybe Sam and Amir would have placed better if Dennis and I never tied their shoes together the morning of the comp! It sounds evil especially the shaving cream in the tooth brush, but they rolled in at 5am into the apartment we were sharing and started a food fight at 5am.

I picked some apples from the orchard the night before because I am a nice guy and Sam decided they would be fun to throw at me if I snored one more time. There were Apples exploding on the walls, then a bag of gummy bears, a poor plant flew more hours than it wished, ending with a chair!

I will never forget Amir saying "A chair? Who throws a chair?" then me laughing because I tend to take it to the next level at times lol.

It was all Ruedi of TSG's fault for letting us crash with them on a farm. Eurobike definitely kicks Interbikes ass when it comes to having fun.

Back from Eurobike, Game On!

We are blushing...

"I was amazed at the precision of the machining on these stems. the guys from straitline will talk about there equipment all day if you let them. you can see why when you look at the detail that they are able to produce, and the amount of thought they have put in to their products. "

So Eurobike is nuts, it is so huge you have to see it to believe it to fully understand the size of this sport. First thing you do is laugh at all the stupid names and after you saw your 40th bike brand that is desperately trying to be cool you have had enough of the cookie cutter brands.

The hard part is finding all the cool stuff in the mix so there is a lot of walking around, oh and you would rather just go in your pants then use the over crowded washrooms!

The guys from Morewood bikes have a good collage of shots already posted up from the show on their blog, check it out.

If you check the blog be sure to check the "spy flickr" account for the party shots.
