Controversial Bear law long over due.

Straitline Components and Ryan Berrecloth to Release Bear Systems TM

"Straitline Components of British Columbia Canada have teamed up North Shore Local Ryan Berrecloth to launch new safety measures for the infamous North Shore and Whistler regions of BC.

Controversy has been stirring over new safety measures for all mountain bikers as mandatory bear laws come into effect as early as this month, banning all lift and trail access to those not compliant. "
- The Vancouver Sun, April 1st 09

The question has always been how can we stay safe while riding and building in Bear Country?

The answer came to me when I took a frantic call from Ryan Berrecloth last fall when he was charged by a Bear while building a new line for a upcoming shoot.

“Greg, you're not going to believe this but I was just out building that line I showed you over the creek bed, literally hammering the last board on the lip when the whole thing started to shake.

I looked back and a fricking Bear was in full charge running down my line! I didn’t even have time to move I just let out a yell and held on to the edge the best I could as the bear flew by me and sent it over the creek!

I was freaking out, NOBODY poaches my lines!”

So we brought Ryan over to our factory and asked him to recreate what he yelled at the bear to make it run away. Showed him a chainsaw that wouldn't start and recorded his high pitch scream on a High DEF BlueRay Disk and went to work.

We simply Utilized Aerospace Space Aged Aircraft Solid Billet Aluminum (ASAASBA) to devise a cutting edge bear system that mimics your bikes every movement providing constant screaming as you rip down any BC Trails.

Since last fall we have struck deals with all of BC’s biking resorts and with the help of the BC Government secured the rights to sell the Bear Bell Systems, pretty much took the whole market over night and the money is insane!

We Collaborated with Faultline.tv to make a series of public awarness videos!

I personally vow to enforce and educate riders on the use of our Bear Bell System! I will be at every Trail head and every lift line this summer checking everyone's Bikes and rejecting those who do not comply!

BEAR FACTS:

Bears are big and brown except baby bears which are much smaller!

Bears are a very Proud People though they are not people per say but an animal!

Bears derive their name from a football team in Chicago but live in British Columbia Canada!

It is estimated that bears kill over 2 million salmon a year! However, Salmon attacks on bears are much more rare!

Bears also have been known to attack and kill man, but the fact is they have killed less men than World War 1 and World War 2 combined!

With the loss of their habitats bears have developed bad habits!

When interviewed about the bear bells 9 out of 10 bears said
mmmwwwahhhwgrrsnort! But if I spoke Bear I would take that as "I think this is the worst April 1st Prank yet!"

I don't feel so good today!

We are painting our floors -huge project- so nothing too cool to yap about this week but here is a update.

That's DJ holding his shirt over his face, because I just liquidated the whole upstairs with a megga fart.

It was so bad it was like changing the propane tanks on the forklift, even I had to leave.

2 parts hard boiled egg one part broccoli is the recipe for loneliness!

Flatulence Deodorizer Patent

Maybe inventions like this are valid and marketable after all!!

MTBCUT custom gear!

Just like the Nickle Plated pedals these are off limits too! Cruel and unfair some of you may say but these are only for Team MTBCUT.tv and their race season, more info and news release on whats up.

Just some more Ego stroking for us but we deserve it!!

>>>>> MTBCUT BLOG gear shots! <<<<<

"I'm not one of those riders who craves shiny new parts for my bike. I've never understood those people who know study every single product and always ask you what you think of the new Shimano HCR Shiny Anodized Whatdyamabollox.... However there are a few things now and again that are just SICK.

So a delivery comes through today courtesy of those awesome people at Straitlines

I showed a video of the pedals being produced a few weeks ago but today as they hit the sunny (it is honestly) shores of Scotland, this kit looks so cool. They'll look just sweet on the MTBcut/Cyclejersey Orange 224's..... and they'll also stand out just lovely on my 5 year old hammered dirt jump bike!"

PaintHouse Helmet!

Not much to say on this... pretty stoked.

Too cocky? Good!

Thanks to Stacy at PaintHouse Customs for squeezing me ahead of the shady characters over at Decline Magazine!

I let Stacy do what ever the hell he wanted on my helmet, I gave him just a few likes and dislikes but this is his creation, here's what I guessed he would do!

Check out this link to Pinkbike and see his other helmets just released

BOXXER stem Angles!

So the point of todays blog is to Poke fun at a few emails I've recieved from people who cannot grasp a shorter stem design. So I figured some simple visuals would put it all into perspective.

2 time Canadian Champ Drew Mitchell Representing Canada at the worlds Eh!

Our Ultra Boxxer design at 28mm...

Motorcross powerhouse Team G Cross Honda's stem design...

Hmmmm, I see a odd similarity in rider position! I'm tripping out, how could a motorcross background company like Honda develop a stem like that, that's foolish.

Lets watch Andrew Mitchell in his Boxxer Promo Take 2! As usual, Drew is on the brink of laughter as I snicker while filming, watch his eyes look at me for constant approval.

Good stuff, might have to make a take 3 and 4!

Lets take a few learning intermissions...

Why do drugs when adrenaline is almost free... Expensive bikes excluded from my math equation.

Okay now lets watch Drew's original promo video.. Take 1!

Hope Levers are ready to rock!

Look at us getting all fancy with our camera Eh! It took me about 6000 shots but here is a good close up on our style and lever design. That underside lip is for your finger kind of like a mini escape route if you slam the brakes to the bar.

These cross over to Hopes MINI/MR/M6 models and are available at any of our distributors!

We also notched the top side of this lever shaving a gram a pair and giving us an excuse to Lazer Etch our logo underside for a cleaner look.

They look pretty but there is a lot of work that goes into making a lever come to life! Here was our first test run with a simple Tombstone set up. You can tell I was a little excited seeing it fire up!

In this video you can see our Mori's robotic pallet system in work and our production Tombstone being loaded into the machine for mass production.

This video is just cool to watch, or it is really lame if you are not into CNC and hate it when I talk about them lol.

PaintHouse Customs charity lid!

If anyone is reading this you know by now this blog is just our way of having fun and keeping it light, no marketing ploy just us being us but I have to be serious at some point and this post is for a good cause!

Stacy over at PaintHouse Customs just finished a custom helmet for the guys over at Sharpey's in Vancouver

But has jumped in on Sharpey's fundraiser to help out Ryder Evans Brockett battle brain cancer.

Big props to Stacy for making these rad helmets up for the cause. I found this shot on Ryders blog with Ryan Leech in the background. I am going to call up Ryan and see if he can get involved and get Ryder some autographs! Ryan is always stoked to use his celebrity status in a positive way!

Good deed done for the day!

Alan and Chris VOD

Wow, between Alans look back 3's and Chris's gap step down I feal like shit about my riding skills!

It was brought to my attention that I had "POD" up instead of VOD but it was just a test to see if anyone even reads this blog.

Here is the promised prize!

Credit owed to the Hawley blog for finding this gem for me to steal!

Free bike stuff, click here!

I lied just to get you here, but look at I found in my email box!

Props to the boys out in Cranbrook at Favorit Cycles for making their own Point of Purchase display! Yes they spell weird over there, its not an error but serious props for being proactive and supporting us. I think we should look into point of purchase displays to offer to those who support us like these guys!

They also dabble in a little event called the Goat Style Jam locally built and ridden by Dustin Greenhall and Casey Groves, Scott Allyne, keep your eyes peeled for that. Looks like RedBull picked up the scent and when they enter into the game stuff goes off.

Alan/ Chris ripping it up in Aussy!

Check the Banshee blog for an update on Alan and Chris

As Jay said, these guys keep getting better and better!

This is why we made the SSC stem at 35, for the crazy riders we are blessed with.

Be sure to keep an eye out for these guys and Casey Groves this summer slaying competitions!

Oh, and if anyone knows who this guy is contact me right away! We must sponsor this guy and deck that bike before anyone else scoops him up!

And if you find me the name this song title I will forever be in your debt!
