The Pinkbike Crew popped up a touching Casey story where he defends his Virginity
Casey is at the Rampage raking and building as we speak and is pumped on life. He emailed me on FB and told me how awesome he is -
“Yeah that's why I haven't emailed you haha you've been gonzo for a month. I got an invite a week after crankworx. Pretty stoked. I'm running Ti Grey Pedals and a 50mm pinch clamp stem in black. My bike is P.I.M.P.!
Its a Redbull event so they don't have you fill out forms for sponsors listings and stuff. Ridiculous I know!
I have been stepping up to the plate in slopestyle events all year around dude. I'm 8th in the world right now on FMBA and I came podium in every event but Goatstyle, which isn't major.”
Check out his new digs.
Click this link and check out what he has to say about being invited to the Rampage after earning his invite with his Krankworks podium!

Just throwing this out there but how about we abolish the Race Plate for arm bands instead, or at least make them see through plates so that they quit covering up our stems!
Googling arm bands with safe search off can sometimes produce the wrong images. It was either this or kids in pools, I had to make a choice.
But my point being, arm bands minus this guys leather matching outfit should take the place of annoying race plates. Just saying it out loud, look at the race shot…nice stem!
Our Canadian Distributor Lama Cycles posted a cool race report and the entire team is on our Ultra 28 mm series Boxxer stem but you will have to take my word for it!
Take a quick view of their team race report over on Pinkbike to see what I mean and to look at their coverage of the races.

And to make up for the opening shot watch this video.
Just got in from Vegas Interbike and had this email pop in from Stu over at MTBCUT
The MTBCUT team slayed it this year setting the bar pretty dam high for sponsorship and what you do to HELP grow a brand by having fun and paying it forward!

Hey dude,
Awesome to see you last week, I need to get down to editing that killer video we made!!
Cathro won the final UK NPS last week and wrote a little blog on it, podium photo below as well... Run it on your blog if you like.
Cheers

2009, well it's been a good year for myself. I've pulled some sweet results out of the bag and had a flippin marvelous time as well. It was my first year riding for MTBCut/Cyclejersey and let me be the first to say it was a pleasure. We've had some blazing results this year and some good laughs as well.
After all the highs and lows through the year the team found itself in a quiet valley in southern Wales for the final round of the NPS series. Rheola is a track I've ridden before and it is also a track I wasn't too keen on. It was pretty much 1 line flat out in a rut the whole way. Race over I can officially say it's one of the best tracks I've raced on in Britain. The guys who reworked the track added in some awesome, fresh, gnarly, rooty sections which gave the track some variation and just added a whole lot of rad to the situation.
Myself and Barnes were fresh back from Europe and were feeling good on the bikes, Coatesy was feeling strong after posting some record power outputs in testing, Hutchens was pumped to have a pink 225 to rag down the hill and James as always was stoked to be there. Practice was real good fun on the fresh bits of track as it changed every run. I was all over this new super booter the builders had erected which meant I could bring out the superior pencil skills and entertain the crowd/myself.
Racing went pretty well for the team. Coatsey put in a solid result which secured him 3rd overall in senior. James had the biggest stack in seeding but manned up and just missed the junior podium in 6th. Hutchens had a bad day at the office and was O.T.A. Joe had a pretty good run and scored 5th in Elite and I scored myself a victory which rounded out my season quite nicely.
This has been one hell of a year and I've got to be lame and thank a few guys because they're the people that make it all happen. So obviously cheers to Stu and Brian for keeping us bunch of weapons rubber side down. Thanks to Orange Mountain Bikes for supplying us with the best frames out there. Thanks to Hope, IXS, Straitline, Hotlines, Silverfish and Madison for supplying us with the only kit you'd ever want to run. Big thanks to anyone else who's helped out along the way, you're all legends. Oh yeh, also wee man, I love you too.
If anyone wants me over the winter I'll be in the gym.
See you next year.
Fort William Red Route overview
Cathro Bike check
We have been involved with Camp of Champions since pretty much their first Season opening their bike camps. I spend more time on Skype laughing then I do getting anything done business wise with these guys, just take a look above at this years t-shirt design!
Then get on the Van to Whistler!
We are involved with the camp for one reason… an excuse to go to whistler more often! If I had a second reason it would be because it is just all about fun and riding a bike. No attitude or lame attempt to push a coolness factor, everyone is just hanging out with no agenda but to ride.
Eric Peterson, the man behind our April fool prank videos now hangs with camp all summer capturing the vibe, take a look.
Bonus factor to camp is that our factory riders, Casey Groves –Transition Bikes- and Alan Hepburn- Banshee Bikes are coaches alongside head coach Gareth Dyer so the kids get to watch pro slope style riders in the air dome and on the trails with them.
But it isn’t just for kids… If you look at the size of their ski and snowboard camps you get the idea of where the bike division is going, and if you are attending Crankworks this year it is going to be hard to miss COC and Straitline because we got something brewing…
Count how many time Ken says Adult week of Camp of Champions in that video… lol.
Stu over at MTBCUT.tv sent us this web edit of Ben Cartho, Joe Barnes and Chris Hutchens riding the new red route at Fort William last week.
Stu mentioned…
“It ended up as a nice little video of them playing on the new track. Incidentally after filming this Ben and Joe went on to finish 1st and 2nd in Elite at the British NPS round on the weekend.”
Team MTBCUT is kitted in custom Straitline boxxer stems platform pedals in a one off x-ray pink/black just for them!
Check out the massive scrub to hip hematoma half way through…ouch!

Stu took the time out of his hectic schedule to edit up some of our CNC footage for the Fort William World Cup big screen! We will be showing more of our facility as the trade show season nears!
Short and sweet!
Alan Hepburn is from Australia but lives here in BC every summer because in his homeland all of the girls won’t leave him alone! So… he comes to Canada to hang out in the woods with men.
That's Alan on the bottom!
Actually Alan is all man with bigger ones than most on a bike, I even tempted fate with Alan last month in Squamish while heading up to Whistler. We drive up to the local beer store, I went in for the beer but Alan went to find some Growers Berry cider in a 2 liter! The actual words out of his mouth were “oh Berry” lol, so I stood by him for support, more so a defensive position. Everyone around us in the small store looked very Squamish with their cases of Lucky under arm but we stuck together confident in our man hood I even picked up a bottle… but in Pear!! Now That definitely takes big ones not just to do it but to admit it online!
But while Alan is here hanging out he makes sick ass videos and relentless photo shoots for his sponsors. Coach at Camp of Champions and a full on Privateer in every sense, just riding and progressing on his own terms.
I guess what I am getting at is guys like Alan set the bar pretty high for sponsorship and I hope some people are reading this before emailing companies for free gear! Takes a lot of backing up and guys like Alan back it up by traveling around attending Events!
Love this little video edit of Alan with Chris and Tim! Alan can hear a shutter clicking from 300 meters and always has his Blue Steel pose ready!
Local Video maker Aaron Laroque is also soon to drop a video featuring Alan riding full components on his Banshee’s!, Casey Groves, Dustin Greenhall and a ton of local boys are in it too, you may have seen It pop up on Pinkbike the other day, it and blew everyone away when they leant this will be a free video for all to download!!
Check it out!
