Ben Cathro Top of the pack for tomorrows race!

Ben must be stoked, with this… I think or maybe this is bad, first thing in the morning, wet track and first to go… we will see.

“After an amazingly exciting wet and wild qualifying at Champery, here’s how the riders line up for tomorrows finals.”

Team MTBCUT runs a full Straitline race kit pedals/50 mm Boxxers/ SSC stems and he Silent guides you can see how stoked Ben is over our Retro 80’s kit this year!

[CATHRO[1].jpg]

Stu Thomson of Team Mtbcut also covers all that happens at the race and I am stoked for Ben tomorrow, he’s been on fire and his mind is in the right place for a win!

Qualifying was nasty wet, take a peek.

So I believe free caster will be playing this live while I sleep and drool in bed tonight but if you can keep an eye on it and root for Team Mtbcut!

Ben Cathro Straitlines to the podium!

We came in this morning with a note from Pete from HOTLINES, our UK distributor…

“Ben Cathro won the iXS European Downhill Cup ahead of a stacked field that included Cam Cole, Nick Beer, Wyn Masters, Shaun O’Connor, Matt Simmonds, Filip Polc amonst others. Totally stoked on his über-radness.

Cheers,

Pete”

Cathro is on the MTBCUT Team running our boxxer stems, pedals and Silent guides check out this video of the IXS race and keep your eyes peeled for Adam Brayton pinning it on our flats.

Here’s the release we saw this am.

iXS/Straitline Rider Ben Cathro Tops Podium At Innerleithen iXS Cup!

MTBCut.tv rider Ben Cathro rode to victory this weekend at the Innerleithen round of the iXS European DH Cup.

Ben rode straight into the Hot Seat and stayed there right throught to the last Elite rider - this has got to be some kind of record for length of time spent in the lead! Ben was one of the first to run in the Elite field as he couldn't make it to the seeding runs the day before - as he was at fellow MTBCut rider, and manager, Stu Thomson's wedding where he was an usher. Obviously getting a good nights sleep wasn't part of Ben's race plan!

Ben won by over a second with a time of 2:57.281, with fastest seeding rider Lewis Buchanan coming in 2nd at 2:58.477 and CRC/Intense rider Matt Simmonds claiming 3rd spot with 2:58.583. Ben's race run was typical Cathro style - fast, loose and incredible to watch!

The purpose built track at Innerleithen was a mixture of different surfaces - loamy and sticky up top, dusty and loose in the trees and wet and slippy grass coming into the arena - several riders came to grief in the last 2 corners in the field - some even managing to wash out after crossing the line!

The MTBCut guys are supported by iXS and Straitline via Hotlines - and are supplied with custom Straitline components and iXS protection and apparel.

Micro parts! And a MTBcut happy ending!

Geek alert!!

Grab your Archie Comic and run away if you don’t like viewing anything tech related!

We just bought a fancy microscope to aid us in machining some complex parts for a client. It is like being a kid all over again putting everything within sight under the lens, a spec of dirt on the floor now becomes a mystical journey!

I used a paper clip for size reference, and paired the shots from above then closer up.

If I wasn’t known for talking out of my ass so much I would try to pass this next one off as my last vacation snorkeling but it is just a piece of material I found on the floor. It looks like it’s a glob of nickel.

MTBCUT SAMPLE2 028

In a few weeks we should have it hooked up to a TV so we can show items a bit better and more clear, the camera lens doesn’t like peering down the scope.

And again I am the worst guy ever to talk tech, so this video is very light and i bet 80 percent all wrong in everyway anyways!

Now lets un-dorkify and watch Stu over at MTBcut.tv hang out by himself with a camera!

MTBCUT.tv Stu and Cathro taking a piss!

The title may sound dirty but they are British and taking a piss -AKA messing around- and posting it up for all to see is okay in the UK!

They say it is the shittiest video ever made by them but I actually think it is the best yet, more fun, less portrayal of being Number 1!

We decked their bikes in pedals and stems in a custom colour for cool kids only and soon we must make up a new scheme.

Next season I think we will make the pink brighter and lessen up the black, regardless they will be one off’s for MTBCUT only!

The gear was to compliment the bikes in the video below. In your face Pink.

Ben Cathro's Orange 225 - 50mm fixed stem.

You can see it better on this Pinkbike Video where Ben Cathro goes over his ride

“Ben Cathro is part of the MTB Cut DH team and is the only racer on the World Cup Circuit that is 7 feet tall. Ok maybe he's not 7 feet tall, but damn he's a giant. Ben is here with fellow team mate Joe Barnes and is sporting the all new prototype Orange 225 bike.”

I fell into a wormhole!

I don’t know where the last ten days went but a lot has happened and almost too much to blog!

Team Pinkbikes Kyle Marshall took the Canadian Nationals Junior with our platform pedals underfoot. His time put him 2nd overall if he was in the Pro’s! And last weekend in his first WorldCup race qualified a respectable 74th!

Team Lama Cycles took second place with the finesse of Simon Garstin at the Canadian Nationals…

Big shout out to MTBcut/Cyclejersey rider Ben Cathro for hitting a great final run to squeeze into the top 20!  Team MTBCUT runs a full custom set up by Straitline, stoked to see him finish top 20!

Anyone find the UCI site to be impossible to navigate? I am still searching for results…

Team MTBCUT riding the new Red Route!

Stu over at MTBCUT.tv sent us this web edit of Ben Cartho, Joe Barnes and Chris Hutchens riding the new red route at Fort William last week.

Stu mentioned…

“It ended up as a nice little video of them playing on the new track. Incidentally after filming this Ben and Joe went on to finish 1st and 2nd in Elite at the British NPS round on the weekend.”

Team MTBCUT is kitted in custom Straitline boxxer stems platform pedals in a one off x-ray pink/black  just for them!

I was chatting with Stu from MTBcut.tv and as we chatted his site started scrollign videos as usual. I saw some green pedals flipping in the air and what do you know Alan Hepburn has snuck into another video!

See if you can spot him, he's the guy in the air on the banshee in the dry aussy envirnoment!

MTBCUT custom gear!

Just like the Nickle Plated pedals these are off limits too! Cruel and unfair some of you may say but these are only for Team MTBCUT.tv and their race season, more info and news release on whats up.

Just some more Ego stroking for us but we deserve it!!

>>>>> MTBCUT BLOG gear shots! <<<<<

"I'm not one of those riders who craves shiny new parts for my bike. I've never understood those people who know study every single product and always ask you what you think of the new Shimano HCR Shiny Anodized Whatdyamabollox.... However there are a few things now and again that are just SICK.

So a delivery comes through today courtesy of those awesome people at Straitlines

I showed a video of the pedals being produced a few weeks ago but today as they hit the sunny (it is honestly) shores of Scotland, this kit looks so cool. They'll look just sweet on the MTBcut/Cyclejersey Orange 224's..... and they'll also stand out just lovely on my 5 year old hammered dirt jump bike!"

PaintHouse Helmet!

Not much to say on this... pretty stoked.

Too cocky? Good!

Thanks to Stacy at PaintHouse Customs for squeezing me ahead of the shady characters over at Decline Magazine!

I let Stacy do what ever the hell he wanted on my helmet, I gave him just a few likes and dislikes but this is his creation, here's what I guessed he would do!

Check out this link to Pinkbike and see his other helmets just released

This is the last post!

Some of you may know that we are in the lengthy process of building a local Free Ride park here in Sidney BC actually across the road a bit in North Saanich BC. www.freeridebc.com

So much work goes into building a bike park that is free for the community to train and ride in. Check this Park just built in New Zealand as shown on MTBcut.TV

I hate it when people say this to me at the years end but... See ya Next Year!
