The Sicklines crew is a blunt crew and we love that about the site.
Never Ever do you get a rainbows and butterflies review, they up hold a critical view on all items as they should as a consumers guide to gear. The flipside to that is brands want fluffy rainbow and butterfly reviews or they won’t advertise.
Hat’s off to not giving a f**k!
When Straitline is in need of accurate information so that we can design or research or simply buy something personal you’ll find the engineers on the Sicklines site.
At Straitline we chose from the beginning not to get bogged down in fancy marketing angles rather we focus on technology and making a better part than the next guy. This frees up a lot of cash and allows me to just be me and have fun, mainly at others expense. Read on it ends on a good one after the
A little while ago I leaked a few videos out to Sicklines one of the more technically accurate sites about our new pedal and robotic system.
I showed simple machining techniques and raw pedals but nothing finished and ready for the market. Normally we would laser etch our graphics into the pedal body and I would be showing you what we came up with but this pedal is a bit complex in design and we want graphics on the edges.
So when we do release the pedal hopefully by Crankworxs expect a littler flair outside the norm on this 330 gram pedal!
Now as boring as it can be waiting for something to come it also opens up some reasons kill the time waiting.
I introduce to you the Decoy!
Here is a simple overview on what to do.
Take a tape gun and wrap in the middle of a fluffy roll of toilet paper. Be sure to stay in the middle and not to wrap it too tight as it will warp the edges making the victim suspicious. 5 wraps minimum all in the center.
Take a full length off Toilet paper and wrap it around only allowing enough to hang to entice the victim. Attach the decoy paper with the packing tape but this time go lengthwise perfectly.
Stare at the toilet paper roll and see if you can see anything suspicious, if you can assume they will too. This is very much like building a duck blind.
Install the decoy and wait! Now lets get back to work.
First off I cannot spell Crankworxs right, Kokanee sponsors it so I always throw in extra K’s.
Sicklines.com is working with IXS and dirt.tv/mproa to broadcast some sick footage and huge props for using heavier music! The 80’s pop revival is wearing me down but having said that … megga props to Jack in the blog posting below for starting off heavy then cranking the lamest pop song ever. Good thing he has some skills on the bike and a sense of humor!
And what are the odds of the Sicklines crew finding the only two naked men on the mountain?
Sicklines always does a thorough review of the gear they test and are by no means shy on telling us what they think and we enjoy their opinions. Even though they are probably laundering money and cheating the tax system, they are a good group of guys who spit the truth.
Now, after I posted this up John from the Phillipines asked about his Carbon CR blades that he has broken.
Keep in mind that we fit with no issue the ELIXIR R & CR models WITH the Aluminum blades.
John, you have the models with the Carbon Fiber blades and would need to source out from SRAM part no. 11.5015.028.000 & 11.5015.028.000 this includes the Elixir Lever Pushrod and the Coupling Kit, Elixir Lever Service Kit.
If you own an ELIXIR 5 you would also need a kit but for this model only the Lever Pushrod is needed, SRAM part number 11.5015.028.000
So Elixir R/CR high five, good choice but unfortunatley SRAM made changes on the other models and you will need a kit that they only sell, too costly for us to reproduce.
The question we all must answer on a daily basis. Shoot gun at police or help old lady across the street who knows what the day may bring but we make choices every second of everyday.
The right way and the wrong way can be explained in these following images.
Jason Nixon from Sicklines.com sporting our Silent guide during testing…
Jason demonstrates the Right way.
Now the opposite of Right…
Wrong!
This is an unfortunate situation and I heard he was okay but the sequence is a must see and reminded me of some injury stats that I saw on neck injuries.
Riders last name is Patton, first name unknown yet but we hope he had painless roll and all is well.
This is an example of everything just going wrong. Just As the title suggests ,the jump in this video is a bit hairy and it is always best to let a friend speed test it first.
Stu whipped up this practice footage starting off with Our Adam Brayton and listen to Cathro plug pedals, less pins over the bore gives you more grip peeps!
And the crew over at Sicklines.TV posted up this course overview.
I let Stacy do what ever the hell he wanted on my helmet, I gave him just a few likes and dislikes but this is his creation, here's what I guessed he would do!
Check out this link to Pinkbike and see his other helmets just released
The guys over at Sicklines must have had a slow month and decided to put our gear in the spotlight.
Check it all out here. Actually I am going to make this fun. if you want to see the full preview you have to click on this embarrassingly labeled link...
Again we popped up on Sicklines this time as a build kit to show off Banshee Bikes new AMP hard tail.
Sicklines chose a pretty lean build at 24.2 lbs, all the while choosing a strong component package over chasing grams and compromising what the bike can take on the jumps or street.
"The Straitline SSC (Split Steerer Clamp) 50mm stem is up front and looking sexy. Matching blue Straitline pedals as well to complete the subtle yet bold blue look we were going for."
I am digging the subtle look for sure with slight accents but I think it would be cool to see a Banshee decal underside the down tube but I think this is a proto fresh off the line.
Got a email about our new Ultra Boxxer Stem being on Sicklines I must admit, these guys are thorough!
One thing about making products is everyone either wants it for free or you get fluffy reviews when sometimes you need to hear the truth. We may Joke around about pissing Excellence but if that was our attitude we'd be screwed! Check the review out! www.SICKLINES.com
Because I got the skills to pay the bills I snagged a shot of Banshee Bikes new AMP hardtail. Okay it was actually directly sent to me but check this out.
The guys at Sicklines just built up their new AMP and dressed it up with some fresh new Blue from Straitline.
If I was more organised I would tell you the release dates on the new AMP but I'm not. Just really cool to see more BC firms step it up against the big corps
So why not finally explain this mystery and end the hype on Straitlines wide bodied pedals. I snapped this shot to explain the boring stuff in one image. And yes imagine you were under me looking up, it is shot right.
The pedal is a broad as the shoe that is placed on it and we dished it... Simple.
The boring stuff:
Wide - measured from where the axle enters the pedal body to the bodies tip is 95mm /3.74 inch
Lenght- measured toe to heal where the foot makes contact 97mm /3.82 inch
Overall length including the forward lean is 111mm /4.27 inch Pedal height at the tallest is 20mm /.79inch
Pin height once properly installed rise up 5mm /.2inch
