Some of you may know that we are in the lengthy process of building a local Free Ride park here in Sidney BC actually across the road a bit in North Saanich BC. www.freeridebc.com
So much work goes into building a bike park that is free for the community to train and ride in. Check this Park just built in New Zealand as shown on MTBcut.TV
I hate it when people say this to me at the years end but... See ya Next Year!

Banshee AMP decked in Straitline gear
Again we popped up on Sicklines this time as a build kit to show off Banshee Bikes new AMP hard tail.
Sicklines chose a pretty lean build at 24.2 lbs, all the while choosing a strong component package over chasing grams and compromising what the bike can take on the jumps or street.

"The Straitline SSC (Split Steerer Clamp) 50mm stem is up front and looking sexy. Matching blue Straitline pedals as well to complete the subtle yet bold blue look we were going for."
I am digging the subtle look for sure with slight accents but I think it would be cool to see a Banshee decal underside the down tube but I think this is a proto fresh off the line.
Regardless this is a sick little bike!

Merry Christmas Everyone!
This is just me speaking, Greg, the guys are either in Hawaii or sandbagging our warehouse for flooding but I had to do my last blog of the year and I really have nothing at all to say.
I have watched way too much TV and news programs at my folks house, I'm so glad I do not own cable at my house!
Merry Xmas

NEW 1.5 Stems are here!!!!
Wow, that was a special moment, this is the first stem off production, never been touched by human hands. Yes I threaded in the set screws but it was difficult not to touch the stem itself.
The 1.5 will only be available in 50 mm format and it is only 2 grams heavier than our 1 1/8th
We modified our programs to produce flawless perfect parts, take them out of the machine then off to anodising for an even higher level of finish quality.
pretty stoked!
We made the 1.5 a little different then the 1 1/8th mainly by making the pocket/ vents look more raw surrounded by mirror finish throughout the whole stem. Kind of like new school machining blended with old school.
I'll post it up with more info once back from the anodizing!
In other news... some of you may know I posses ninja like skills on finding random stuff we all need to know or see.
Fucking, Austria!
I have even taken the time to find a list of all the Fucking Hotels Here
And just in case you want to plan a riding trip there I compiled the Fucking Terrain Here.
Your Welcome.

SICKLINES 25 days of Sickness!!!
Got a email about our new Ultra Boxxer Stem being on Sicklines I must admit, these guys are thorough!
One thing about making products is everyone either wants it for free or you get fluffy reviews when sometimes you need to hear the truth. We may Joke around about pissing Excellence but if that was our attitude we'd be screwed!
Check the review out! www.SICKLINES.com

This is Machinist Porn.
This is a dorky post for all the CNC freaks out there...
Some may know that we manufacture our whole product line on Morie Seiki machines with some serious money being put down for the future of Straitline Components.
We recently brought in a NL2000SY with Live tooling and the cream of the crop Bar feeder to keep it running in the nights, plus a pallet system for our existing Mori NH4000DCG.
We pimped out our NH with a 11 cell pallet system fully dedicated to making Straitline, backing up the term precision. The NH is by far my Favorite, it is huge loud, and all you do is wonder what machine made this machine...
Check this cool video I found on Mori Seiki.
We also took a call from the Mori Corporation asking us if we could showcase our gear at their Trade show events. A honour since our bike parts would be shown amongst the best of the best. Check it and you'll see our stem 3rd in the picture scroll IMTS INNOVATION

Know your limits, stay with in it.
Saw a rad Helmet promo on Pinkbike and it Had me thinking about how flimsy my skid lid is! Actually inside it says it is for Wake boarding only but I never fall..
Got me thinking about a party at a bike shop last last night, maybe they should enforce party helmets when you drink!
"there are various police reports floating around victoria regarding various r****s cycles employees....you bolted at the right time dude.
oh yeah...and we've officially got the most hungover staff in the country right now...red eyes all around...and most people rolled in around 10am....

The real Jeff lenosky!
Ryan Denehy of Banquet said it right...
"The average fan of MTB rarely gets to see real personality and lifestyle of their favorite professional athletes. Well fans of Jeff Lenosky can wonder no more...the photo above says it all."
With so many video segments and national TV spots what would you expect? It is ridiculous to assume he'd drive this...
Check out Jeff's Myspace, it appears pink is still the new black! Or is that Fuchsia...?

North Saanich Freeride Park opens!
Gotter Did!
Phase One of the Freeride park is open!! Took us 1 year with no less than few hundred hours of excavation and site preparation to get to this point.
Kyle Michell and I worked late into the night to mix in some concrete and gravel over high traffic areas.
This 2 man feet only happened with the aid of some luxury tools, tools we wish we had from day one! Diesel powered wheel barrels on skid tracks, these are what you would call Pimp!
So, it took us this long because we did it right, tonnes of behind the scenes work to be done and I think we have reached a 1000 man hours in volunteer time.
Sadly I only have the photos above from last night as someone showed up, shoveled a load then took the camera home. sinneb is his name in secret code so I have nothing of the course! On opening day I will snap some day shots and videos of the track.
In the mean time enjoy this shot of me and a Cow in Switzerland.
When i landed back in Canada the custom agents asked if I visited any farms... I admitted i smacked a cows ass while on a bike ride. I don't think they took me serious but I was being honest!
More park info to come!

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Yankees!
I am betraying my own Country when I post this up, but I think it is unfair to keep lying to the world.
You guys want to know why us Canadians -Especially the WEST- Kick ass in any Big Mountain free ride event?
Because we shove cans of Kokanee up our birds asses!
It is what we do and how we achieve so much air. Screw RedBull, this is the feast of Champions the night of any event.

Bring along personal trainer / motivator / saftey advisor:
Attend Luggage Cart Saftey Seminar:
Ignore Luggage Cart Saftey Seminar:
Strengthen legs by running like hell as team mates get caught:
Stretch muscles and loosen up in a Crack Dance:
Seek out Giant Kokanee for meditation and a place to digest Special Canadian diet
Wake up, make left over Sandwiches, Ride, Repeat!
Enjoy your Girly Man Thanksgiving America!

Simplicity of Straitline Pedals!
We designed the pedal to be user friendly and simple, so simple even a monkey could rebuild one. No Monkey at my disposal to back up my claims so I made this little video.
I call it - Paper Rock Scissors!
Batteries not included... or tools!
For a full video explaining what you can use around the house, even how to extract bushings click here: Full video!
Of course they get tested thuroughly so that we know what we offer to you is tough, here is a testing video for axle fatigue.
We built them simple and tough and they welcome impact. If you still need to be sold then watch a excavator slam our pedal after running over it.
John Deere vs Straitline - we won!
And Finally.. how do you maintain them video.
This last video is a home owners method of replacing the bushings in our pedal using what you have at hand. We suggest watching the maintenance videos above and use a proper press because you may damage the bushings if you press them in wrong.
So... as we claim in our marketing these pedals truly can be built up with just one tool. If you do choose this method go slow and be sure the bushing has started inside the pedal body in a up right position and begin.
Now Extraction!

FREERIDE BC BIKE PARK UPDATE!
The plan!
I am so stupid even google told me how stupid I am. I lost my codes for www.freeridebc.com blog and Google could not help me out as I lost the email i set it up on. Me smrt.
So I am back on track and live! For those not in the know, we have been working on a bike park for well over a year, planning scheming to open up a training facility that will be free for everyone to ride.
The pump tracks are just the beginning full pro jumps will be there and everything leading up to it, with fitness as the main focus.
Check it out, www.freeridebc.com we intend to go big on this and we have full support from everyone we need to make it happen. We even landed a gas sponsorship from CO-OP gas stations to fuel our machines, machines that are all on loan from generous local firms. Too much to say so please keep an eye on the other blog www.freeridebc.com and show some love!
Mini Teaser on the Sexy new stems!
We didn't have any money to make a fancy demo video like most of the companies out there. Instead we tried to make one with for our new Boxxer Stem designed for Drew Mitchell, Canada's National Downhill Champion, but as you can see it was more funny than anything else.
Drew Boxxer Promo Take One!!
The New Ultra Short Boxxer direct mount stem. at 28 mm solid 2 piece design 136 grams, designed to get your weight over the bars increasing front tire hook up and handling. As explained by Drew in the worst promo video to date!
So to save time on making another Promo video to show off the other stems, I decided to use Lady Boss in a fight sequence! If you look closley she and her Thugs are rocking the new 35 stem in blue with matching pedals! And hopefully near the end of this video you will have figured out that this blog is for fun!
Sexy 35 mm pinch clamp stem 167 grams 50mm version 185 grams
And the Sugar daddy that started it all, the Vertical Wedge Stem, clean and flawless with 888 compatibility. Here are some Kind words on this stem...
I was amazed at the precision of the machining on these stems. the guys from straitline will talk about there equipment all day if you let them. you can see why when you look at the detail that they are able to produce, and the amount of thought they have put in to their products.

Casey Groves sadly exposed....
I always wondered about Casey and what makes him Huck so huge almost ahead of his time, especially after seeing this photo of Casey taken by our web designer Jonathan of Spun Studios .
At first I thought it was the Hulk but after seeing this news flash posted up by the Transition boys.... I was Speechless! I was way off!
And the kid is a relentless vandal... or self promoter, as seen on this machine just south of Whistler. You should see what he did to front of it.

Lenosky @ Ray's Indoor
Jeff designed and built the course with Ray intending it to be relaxed and fun, but as Jeff said, once everyone showed up the compwetitive edge came out in everyone.
Lopes took the main event at Rays this weekend and Sicklines was on hand to document the race.

Lenosky making use of the course. And yes this is a very lazy blog, just go to Sicklines and check the whole event out.

Soldier Down!
This weekend was a sad one as we lost an loyal employee!
R.I.P. Bella Paulson!
Bella passed away Halloween night attempting a game of leap frog. It happened fast and painless but it is still sad to loose a good pet.
She will be missed and Dennis will miss picking up the torn garbage bags when he gets home! Good dogs are hard to find!

Check this Ride out!
Because I got the skills to pay the bills I snagged a shot of Banshee Bikes new AMP hardtail. Okay it was actually directly sent to me but check this out.
The guys at Sicklines just built up their new AMP and dressed it up with some fresh new Blue from Straitline.
If I was more organised I would tell you the release dates on the new AMP but I'm not. Just really cool to see more BC firms step it up against the big corps
Stick it to the man!
This is my Friday filler, watch this to the end!

Straitline Pedal dimensions revealed...
I was lurking on the Internet as usual, when I found a simple forum thread asking for pedal dimensions on PinkBike.
So why not finally explain this mystery and end the hype on Straitlines wide bodied pedals. I snapped this shot to explain the boring stuff in one image. And yes imagine you were under me looking up, it is shot right.
The pedal is a broad as the shoe that is placed on it and we dished it... Simple.
The boring stuff:
Wide - measured from where the axle enters the pedal body to the bodies tip is
95mm /3.74 inch
Lenght- measured toe to heal where the foot makes contact
97mm /3.82 inch
Overall length including the forward lean is
111mm /4.27 inch
Pedal height at the tallest is
20mm /.79inch
Pin height once properly installed rise up
5mm /.2inch
Go here to watch a video of the pedals being disected and rebuilt.
And go here to see a Pinkbike blog review someone did on the pedals.
